Acupoint Codes, Names, Translations & Locations Main Page
Introduction
Different acupuncture textbooks use differing conventions in coding the acupoints. Beginners often assume that codes in one book are the same as in another. This can cause serious errors in point location! Acutherapists should double check the codes and acupoint names in each of their reference works (and recode the points, if needed) before they use those codes in selection of points for therapy.
This program allows users to locate details of an acupoint by its alphanumeric code, or by its Pinyin name. The codes are those used in papers, reviews, bibliographies & training lectures by the author.
Lookup Codes for Channels, Vessels & Non-Channel Points
The NEW human acupoint codes for the Jing-Channels, their Zang-Fu (Organ-Bowel) Systems and the Mai (Extraordinary Vessels) are used in the author's updated Online Study Material on Acupuncture, TCM & Complementary Therapy. The NEW codes are the same as the current IVAS codes, except that IVAS uses Liv for LV.
These new codes differ from old codes used in ADA (Acupuncture Data Assistant) Version 1 Software (1991). [ADA is a database of points used to treat >1100 clinical problems. The old software is no longer available. It is being updated to adopt the new codes in the next version].
