Endnotes
  • Those who wish to locate relevant references in printed materials, or digitised databases, face three main difficulties with the alpha-characters or alphanumeric codes used for the Chinese ideograms of acupoints: There are several ways to "name" an acupoint in alpha characters. For example Jen Chung is also spelled as jenchung, renzhong, Ren Zhong etc. Some acupoints have two or more quite distinct names. For example Renzhong is also called Shuigou or shuikou. The IVAS [International Veterinary Acupuncture Society] code for the point is GV26, but other texts call it VG26, du 26, dumo 26, Go-26, Kg-26 etc. Thus, inexperienced researchers may miss many references unless they use the various alpha- and alphanumeric terms in their search.
  • .Rogers PAM (1984) "Choice of AP points for particular conditions" (http://users.med.auth.gr/~karanik/english/vet/choice1.htm) and "Computer applications in the study and clinical use of AP " (http://users.med.auth.gr/~karanik/english/vet/micro1.htm).
  • The sympathicomimetic effects of GV26-stimulation in animals under general anaesthesia were discussed above; one of those effects was increased BP.
  • The names and locations of 124 Channel Points listed in the bibliography are in Table 4.
  • Extra Points are, not listed on the traditional Channel System of AP. They include several hundred points, mainly discovered in the last 100 years. Extra points mentioned in the bibliography include those in Table 5.
